ISI is a full participant in the comprehensive drive towards sustainability in the urban development and built environment. It works on Sustainability as a key factor in formulating business models for clients, users and stakeholders, thereby laying the foundation for the creation of specific management set-up, instruments and tools for the independent running and financing of desired projects.

One good example is the proposed Tanjung Pelepas Ecological Park (TPEP), which is a project located within a stipulated mangrove protection and preservation area and one that must not only be realized in built form but also crucially and simultaneously serve as ‘Special Purpose Vehicle’ (SPV) for environmental monitoring. Such details are provided for by ISI as part of its consultancy service for the project.

ISI’s key contributions toward the publication of the 2011 ‘Low Carbon Cities Framework and Assessment System’(LCCF) bodes well on the future direction of Sustainability programmes in Malaysia, particularly on the green urban development, transportation and townships. ISI is also currently the host and secretariat for the prestigious MIT-UTM Malaysia Sustainable Cities Program (MSCP), whose aim is to promote the scholarly participation andcontribution the academia in real sustainable projects throughout the world.
