Title: Establishment of a Geographic Information System for the State of Johor (First Phase)

Year: 2000

Cost of Project: MYR2.0m

Client: Johor State Government

The State of Johor is seeking to lead Malaysia in the development of an information-rich society through the coordinated development and effective use of information technology. A large proportion of information critical to the Government decision making and physical development relates to land which has a geographical base. A Geographic Information System (GIS) is an underpinning tool by which land related information can be tidily kept together, readily accessed and managed for rational planning and decision-making. Spatial data in GIS layers becomes the framework to which other data is added.
